Immersion Loop Checks Before Adding Hashboards

Immersion removes fan noise but introduces loop integrity risk. A slow fitting weep shows up after thermal cycling, not on a cold pressure test alone. Before clients add hashboards equivalent to another 0.05 TH/s, we run a six-point check adapted from industrial chiller practice.

Six-Point Protocol

  1. Cold pressure — Record baseline with pump at rated speed, ambient fluid temp.
  2. Hot pressure — Same after 60 minutes at mining load; delta beyond manufacturer spec triggers fitting inspection.
  3. Ultrasonic listen — Along every quick-connect and threaded joint at hot state.
  4. Fluid level — Expansion tank mark after hot cycle; loss indicates evaporation or seep.
  5. Filter delta — Clogged loop filters mimic pump head loss and hide falling flow to new boards.
  6. Spill path — Verify containment volume if a board tray drains during service.

Jeju-Specific Note

Salt air accelerates external condenser corrosion on two-phase rejection units. Inspect coil fins annually; reduced air-side flow raises loop temps and stresses seals.

Go / No-Go

Energize new boards only when hot pressure repeat matches cold repeat within spec twice on consecutive days. Incremental capacity in fluid should not proceed on a single good reading after a long weekend shutdown.
